As part of our ongoing commitment to public health and in observance of #STIawareness month, My Age Zimbabwe partnered with City Health to conduct a comprehensive “Know Your Service” (KYS) campaign in Masvingo. This initiative aimed to increase awareness of available sexual and reproductive health services and improve access to vital resources within the community.
Our outreach teams strategically positioned themselves in key high-traffic areas across Masvingo, ensuring maximum reach and accessibility. These locations included:
- Jazire Shopping Center – Rujeko: Serving the residents of Rujeko and surrounding areas.
- Victoria Range: Providing services to the residents of this growing residential area.
- Masvingo Rank Area: Targeting a central transportation hub where a significant number of individuals converge.
- Masvingo Civic Centre: Offering convenient access to services for city employees and residents visiting the administrative hub.
At each of these locations, our dedicated teams provided a range of crucial services, including:
- HIV Testing & Counseling: Offering confidential and professional HIV testing services, coupled with pre- and post-test counseling to empower individuals with the knowledge they need to make informed decisions about their health.
- Condom Distribution: Promoting safer sexual practices through the free distribution of condoms, a vital tool in preventing the transmission of STIs and unplanned pregnancies.
- ART Refills: Facilitating access to life-saving antiretroviral therapy (ART) for individuals living with HIV, ensuring continuity of care, and promoting adherence to treatment regimens.
This KYS campaign represents a significant step towards achieving our broader public health objectives. By bringing essential services directly to the community, we are working to break down barriers to access, reduce stigma, and ultimately improve the health and well-being of the residents of Masvingo. We remain committed to continuing these outreach efforts and collaborating with City Health to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to know their status and access the services they need. We encourage community members to take advantage of available resources and prioritize their sexual health. Together, we can build a healthier future.
