From Landlocked to Limitless: How Ghana Sparked Our Next Big Leap!

We are pleased to share some thrilling news from the My Age Management team! Recently, we embarked on an inspiring journey to Ghana to engage with the Social Enterprise Acceleration Programme (SEAP) led by the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF). This innovative initiative aims to empower Member Associations to integrate entrepreneurial strategies with social impact, thereby enhancing the capabilities of the health sector while benefiting local communities. Essentially, it offers organizations a way to generate domestic funding and lessen dependence on external donors through the establishment of self-sustaining business models.

During our visit, we had the privilege of collaborating with the Planned Parenthood Association of Ghana (PPAG), which introduced us to their impressive social enterprise model known as Printing, Hiring, Consultancy, and Training (PHCT). This experience provided us with invaluable insights into developing business models, conducting market research, creating financial projections, and assessing our initiatives. With PPAG’s exceptional training, we experienced an enlightening “AHA!” moment that has broadened our vision for our own social enterprise, the 263 Youth Media Hub. We eagerly anticipate sharing our ambitious growth plans in the near future.

Our fruitful discussions also took us to Cape Coast, where we learned about PPAG’s groundbreaking effort to establish a maternal hospital set to offer unique services in Ghana. This inspired us to expand our vision for a clinic dedicated to adolescents and young people, which we aim to complete next year. We discovered the importance of implementing tiered pricing strategies to sustain free health services for the youth while providing paid services for older clients, thereby ensuring the clinic’s long-term viability.

Beyond our professional engagements, we enjoyed exploring the historical significance of the Cape Coast Castle, where we reflected on the poignant history relating to the Atlantic Slave Trade. As visitors from a landlocked country, we also took a moment to appreciate the beauty of the Atlantic Ocean!

Looking forward, 2025 marks a significant milestone for us as we celebrate our 10th anniversary and conclude our five-year Strategic Action Plan. We are excited about the future and determined to make our presence known.

We extend our heartfelt appreciation to the IPPF network for connecting us with incredible partners like PPAG. Their support will be instrumental as we enter this crucial growth phase.

our experience in Ghana was not just about work but also about warmth and hospitality. The Ghanaians welcomed us like family, exemplifying the respect and warmth deserving of all visitors. We highly recommend a visit to this remarkable country!
