Empowering Young Leaders for Change!

My Age Zimbabwe recently concluded a two-day training session on Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) proved aimed to provide an enriching and empowering experience for young people. The event fostered an environment of inclusion and enthusiasm, uniting young individuals, facilitators, and advocates in their shared commitment to advancing sexual and reproductive health and rights through education and advocacy.

The training covered a wide range of topics, including the definition, key areas, and benefits of CSE, with emphasis on critical thinking, communication, and decision-making skills. Participants explored the Ministerial Commitment for Eastern and Southern Africa (ESA) and its role in enhancing access to sexual and reproductive healthcare. Interactive sessions focused on reproductive systems, sexual orientation, and sexual behavior, promoting respect for human rights and diversity.

The second day highlighted leadership through the Girls Choose Champions (GCC) program, equipping young leaders with tools to promote gender equality and informed decision-making. Participants discussed challenges faced by GCCs and strategies for overcoming them. The concept of SMART Advocacy was introduced, alongside the Youth Action Movement (YAM), as a platform for youth-led initiatives. A post-training assessment demonstrated a significant increase in knowledge and awareness among participants.

The training concluded with a call to action, urging young leaders to apply their newfound knowledge and skills to drive positive change within their communities and continue advocating for comprehensive sexuality education.
